FDA Approves Robotic Arm to Help Stroke Patients

A robotic device designed to help stroke patients undergoing rehabilitation to regain use of partially paralyzed arms has received FDA approval, the manufacturer has announced.

Worn as an arm brace, the Myomo e100 NeuroRobotic System senses muscle signals from the skin's surface. It then helps the patient perform simple movements, with the goal that neurologic pathways will be strengthened and the patient will ultimately be able to use his or her arm unassisted.
